Kathmandu. The Stock Brokers Association of Nepal (SAAN) has announced to provide margin trading facility to the investors from April 15.
The association made this announcement in a statement on March 17. But, as the association has said, will investors be able to enjoy margin trading facility from brokers from the same date?
Amrit Acharya, Head of IT at Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) and Waiko’s Country Representative in Nepal, said that the feature related to margin trading should be added to the Transaction Management System (TMS). “We are working for that,” he said, adding that the brokers have said that they will provide margin trading facility from April 2. But it takes time. ’
According to Acharya, after updating the system, investors will be able to use the facility of mortgage trading from the brokers from April 7-8. “It will take that much time because we are working on our side,” he said.
There are 14 brokers associated with the new TMS. DG Hub is also currently testing adding a margin trading feature to TMM. “We are currently testing this feature,” said Rajan Ghimire, project manager of DG Hub. However, it will take some time to be operational in full phase. ’
Earlier, the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) had implemented the ‘Margin Trading Facility Directive, 2082’. After this, Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) had issued ‘Margin Trading Facility Work Procedure, 2082’.
Within a few days, the Brokers’ Association had also prepared a procedure for margin transaction facility. NASA Securities, which has its own TMS, has started providing margin trading facilities to investors. The rest of the brokers will soon provide this facility to the investors.
