Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Health Insurance Board (HIB) has warned of taking action against anyone found violating the rules in providing health insurance services. The Insurance Board has issued a circular in the name of all service providing health institutions.
The Board has said that its serious attention has been drawn to the complaints received from some service providing health institutions that the insured people have to take time in advance to receive health insurance services, discriminatory behavior towards the insured and not providing necessary services and medicines in course of providing services under the health insurance programme. “These actions are against the Health Insurance Act-2074 BS, Health Insurance Regulations-2075 BS and prevailing laws,” reads the statement.
The Insurance Board has directed not to carry out such activities and to fully follow the prevailing Acts, Regulations, Directives and Procedures.
The circular also warned that action would be taken as per Section 12 (1) (b) of the Health Insurance Act if any service provider health institution was found to have violated the rules. Section 12 of the Insurance Act states that the agreement of the service provider health institution can be terminated.
