Kathmandu. The government has set a target to manage the financial burden of the disaster through insurance. According to point 77 of the Public Policy and Programme released on Monday, the government is to use risk transfer tools to make the post-disaster recovery effective.
The plan states that the insurance system will be made mandatory or expanded in the process of compensation, relief and reconstruction after the disaster. This will especially benefit farmers and tourism entrepreneurs in rural areas.
Meanwhile, the government has put forward a plan to make hydrological and meteorological data more systematic and technology-friendly. Now all weather and hydrological details will be integrated into a digital platform.
The initiative is expected to bring about a paradigm shift in disaster management and preparedness. A disaster early warning system will be developed by integrating hydrological and weather data into a single digital platform. This will help in minimizing the loss of life and property due to possible natural disasters.
The app will be used to inform the general public in an easy manner. Through this app, the early warning service will be extended especially in the following areas.
It will be easier for farmers to plant and protect crops according to the season, and they will be aware of the risks of traveling in advance. It will help make flying safer and more reliable.
