The cost of Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower has increased by 81.5% to Rs. 66 billion needed

Kathmandu. According to the Supplementary Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project, the project has been increased to Rs. The report, prepared by Nepal Water and Energy Development Company, presents updated revisions compared to the Environmental Impact Assessment report approved in 2013. The Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation has urged stakeholders to submit their suggestions on the report on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) within 10 days.

The 216 MW project will be constructed at Amachhodangmo Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 of Rasuwa district. Gosainkunda Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 and 2 Ward No. 6, Uttargaya Rural Municipality and Kalika Rural Municipality Ward No. 1. 1. Initially, 108.61 hectares of land was supposed to be acquired for the project, which has now been scaled up to 73.44 hectares.

The re-evaluation report stated that there were no families directly affected. According to the preliminary report, 41 households would be affected.
