Kathmandu. The Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC), Thailand’s insurance regulator, is speeding up the implementation of a nationwide system to protect road accident victims.
As part of this initiative, medical staff in 17 northern provinces are being trained in the process of submitting initial compensation claims under the Motor Vehicle Accident Victims Protection Act BE 2535 (1992) to improve the efficiency of the system and ensure speed, transparency and consistent standards across the country.
According to the Commission, the objective of the training is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and growing understanding between relevant agencies such as the Road Accident Victims Compensation Fund, the insurance industry and government and private hospitals. The training also aims to enhance understanding of the coverage terms and procedures for exercising entitlements under motor vehicle accident victim insurance policies.
According to Mürin Süttirtanafan, the Motor Vehicle Accident Victim Protection System is an essential system to ensure public safety and compensation. –Agency
