Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) is to shut down its health insurance programme.
The Health Insurance Board (HIB) has decided to shut down the health insurance programme from January 15 after it failed to pay Rs 400 million for treatment expenses for a long time.
In a press release issued by the hospital administration, the hospital administration said, “We are unable to run the health insurance program by incurring a loss of Rs 20 million every month.
“The Insurance Board has been approving only 50 percent of the claims and rejecting the rest,” he said, adding that the hospital is yet to pay around Rs 400 million in insurance claims. “
Health Insurance Board and Tribhuvan University The hospital has been running the health insurance programme since 2077 BS as per the agreement between the Teaching Hospital.
Although the number of patients coming to the hospital from health insurance is increasing day by day, the expenses have also increased.
The hospital administration has complained that the service charge of the insurance board and the hospital is different during the treatment of the patients coming to the hospital and the hospital administration has not been heard even after repeatedly requesting the hospital to consider the amount as the final amount for the last 2 years.
