MetLife Foundation Provides Grants to Non-Governmental Organizations in Nepal

Kathmandu. MetLife Foundation has announced the new beneficiaries of its Community Impact Grant Program (CIGP). Through this program, MetLife Foundation will provide a total of $6.5 million to non-profit organizations in various countries, including Nepal. The program supports organizations that address the basic needs of the community. Providing support to organizations that provide the services and resources people need to build their economic health and sustainability, while solving critical problems. This reflects MetLife and the MetLife Foundation’s long-term commitment to helping the community move forward with confidence and increase access to opportunities.

Launched in 2023, the program will be expanded globally in 2025. It supports organizations that provide solutions focused on food security, mental health and overall well-being, environmental sustainability, and building strong communities. This year, grants have been awarded to more than 100 organizations around the world, including the following in Nepal:

The Awake Project of Solucham, Solukhumbu has been awarded a grant of US$ 110,000 for two years. Through this project, more than 3,000 people in Solukhumbu will be provided environmental training, which includes programs on waste management, tree plantation, and water, sanitation, and hygiene.

SOSEC Nepal’s SAFE Programme has been provided with a support of US$190,000 for two years. The program will support to strengthen long-term food security for farmers, youth, and small businesses through improved agricultural practices, skills development, economic sustainability, and integration of health services.

“Through the Community Impact Grant Program, the MetLife Foundation is investing in organizations that improve the overall well-being of individuals and communities,” said Tia Hodges, president and CEO of the MetLife Foundation and head of corporate giving and employee volunteering at MetLife. Together, we are helping individuals and families overcome challenges and become more stable and capable. ”

As in previous years, MetLife staff participated in the grant selection process and reviewed applications received from various organizations. Since the program’s inception, more than $9 million in grants have been awarded to 207 organizations, benefiting more than 1.6 million people in the Americas, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.

This program is an important part of the MetLife Foundation’s broader commitment to expanding inclusive economic opportunity, promoting economic health, and helping to empower and sustain the communities that MetLife operates.
