The campaign, led by the educational organization Mbark UnMath, has given a new dimension to the traditional way of teaching and understanding mathematics in schools. It’s not just about getting a quick answer or giving the right answer here; Students should clearly explain why their answer is correct. You have to question the arguments of others and present your opinion logically and clearly. For this reason, this competition is different from the traditional examination and is seen as an exercise in academic review.

After the completion of the regional stages, the best teams from Jhapa, Biratnagar, Chitwan, Pokhara and Butwal reached the national stage to compete. A total of 13 teams in the alpha category and 14 teams in the beta category entered the championship round. This clearly shows the growing interest in the competition and the level of competition.

Challenge to rote culture: Nepal’s education system has a tradition of considering the last answer as the main achievement, but in the Global Math Debate League, the ‘why’ and ‘how’ aspect is given high priority. Students prepare arguments in favor of mathematical claims or conclusions and provide coherent answers to each question.

Premier International IB Continuum School, Manav Shanghai, Aansh Rungta and Biwan Agrawal bagged the first position while Kathmandu Pragya Kunja School, Aadhya Thapa, Anupreksha Khatiwada, Bill Dhakal bagged the second position while Shreyasi Acharya, Kavya Shreevastav, Akshaj Parajuli from Nami International School bagged the third position.

Similarly, in the Beta category, New Horizon English Boarding Secondary School, Prasanna Nepal, Samragri Belbase, Prekshya Khanal secured the first position, while Premier International IB Continuum School, Ayushman Agrawal, Agaman Gautam, Oshin Shrestha and Bipul Dubey, Gauransh Tyagi, Ojas Jha from Rai School and Sanskrita Gaire, Aditya Khatri, Pratishtha K.C. from Kumudini Homes Secondary School. He got it.

Britannica ANC participated in the national round of the competition as the research and skills-technology partner. Similarly, Foodmandu is the food delivery partner and TBG Nepal is the Fraction Sponsor while Lumbini World School and Kumudini Homes Secondary School are the co-organizing partners. Similarly, Education and Lab of Future also provided necessary support.

Such collaboration between the school and the private sector has shown the possibility of conducting educational programs effectively in the coming days. It is believed that this collaborative framework can be a useful model for expanding such educational circuits in the future.

Depth of reasoning, clarity of thought, coherence with the subject matter and ability to adapt to the situation are the basis of evaluation. These skills are useful in higher education and solving real-life problems. This format of debate helps students to be more confident in their thinking by highlighting their weaknesses.
