Kathmandu. An educational orientation program has been held for the students enrolled in the postgraduate (PG) level at Nepal Medical College. On Thursday, the president of the college, Prof. Dr. Zainuddin Ansari was the chief guest of the program and motivational orientation was given to the students of MD MM, MDS, M.Sc. Nursing faculty.
Speaking at the program, President Ansari said that discipline plays an important role to succeed in medical education and the three years of postgraduate studies will determine the future of the students. He said that hard work, dedication and humility are the main qualities of a good doctor, adding that the success of doctors is measured by their behavior with patients. He also advised the students to study with a positive mindset and stay away from unnecessary criticism.
Recalling his experience of postgraduate studies in India 50 years ago, Ansari said that getting opportunity to pursue higher education in Nepal now is a significant progress in medical education.
Similarly, the Managing Director of the college, Dr. Sabiha Yasmin said that the three years of post-graduation are very important time of learning and made it clear that mistakes made during this period are part of learning, but such mistakes are unacceptable in professional life. She emphasized that students should learn continuously from patients, teachers and colleagues and said that the college will always be positive for the learning of the students.
In the program, the director of the college, Dr. Nusrat Jahan Ansari, Principal Prof. Dr. Modnath Marhattha and Hospital Director Prof. Dr. Nilmani Upadhyay welcomed the new students and urged them to study diligently to become specialist doctors by enhancing their capacity and efficiency in the next three years.
