Dear readers and colleagues of the industry!
8 years has been an interesting turning point in the journey of journalism. Sometimes it feels like it’s just begun, there’s so much more stories to be heard, told, and written. Many questions remain unanswered. Looking back, it seems that we have passed 8 springs! Over time, the industry changed, readers’ expectations changed, and with those changes, we also matured.
Today, as we stand on the brink of the eighth anniversary of the eighth anniversary of insurancekhabar.com, I sit at the editorial table and reminisce about those challenging but meaningful days of the past. When we started our journey, insurance news in Nepal was only a small piece of information in some corner of the financial newspapers. New policies were introduced, companies were opened, but no one took into account the depth and interest of the public. We were determined to fill this void.
Our objective was to provide reliable information with facts and analysis rather than competing for breaking news. We chose this path not to sensationalize but to gain stability and trust.
Over the past 8 years, we have closely watched every and every uptick from stringent regulatory policies to the introduction of digital insurance. Whether it was the joy of getting insurance access to the village or the pain of delay in claim payment, we have always given equal priority to both sides. For us, journalism is not just about singing about success, but also showing us a mirror. It is the duty of journalism to raise questions where there are weaknesses. Because information without accountability is not journalism but only advertising.
We were always trying to strike a difficult balance. To maintain the professional dignity of the industry and to stand firm for the rights and interests of the readers (insured). It’s sometimes challenging to strike this balance, but that’s our guiding principle.
We strongly believe in the potential of Nepal’s insurance industry. In a country like ours, where the risk of natural disasters and increasing economic awareness is essential, a strong insurance system is essential. We believe that the right information and open debate can make this sector dignified and credible.
As we enter its ninth year, our commitment remains the same: to disseminate news without fear and without bias. Provide a single platform for the voices of policymakers to general insurers.
We are indebted to you for the quality you have shown us by reading our materials and trusting us. Your constructive criticism and support has brought us to where we are today.
We promise to be more refined and humane in the days to come.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Editor
