Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The Professional Insurance Agents Association of Nepal has announced to initiate legal action against the former office bearers of the association for not transferring the financial details and membership records of the association.
Speaking at a press conference organized on Sunday, Ganesh Adhikari, president of the association, said that the former office-bearers have refused to submit the required documents despite repeated requests.
Adhikari accused the former leadership of refusing to hand over the property and records even after the Patan High Court’s order that the central committee elected through the special convention was valid. According to him, although a huge amount of money has been withdrawn from the bank account of the association in the name of various people, its expenditure details, bills and accounts have not been provided, which has increased the suspicion of financial misappropriation.
Earlier, the Association had published a public notice through Gorkhapatra and Rastriya dailies urging the owners to surrender their property. However, the association finally decided to go to court after there was no response within the stipulated time.
Adhikari said that the team led by former chairman Amaya had refused to hand over the property for two years and now he is a candidate of a political party.
The association is now preparing to file a case in the court with all the evidence. According to Adhikari, the association has membership fees, shares collected from insurance agents, agency fees, various financial assistance and other sources in the fund, which needs to be managed transparently.
The incident has further intensified a long-running dispute within the Insurance Agents Association. The association has announced that it will take legal and administrative steps soon.
