Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The National Entrepreneurship Initiative (NBI) has successfully conducted an election observation orientation programme for the House of Representatives Election-2082 in Kathmandu. In this program, orientation was provided to the observers deputed by the initiative on various topics including voting process, code of conduct, reporting method and more.
Expressing the organization’s commitment towards the election observation campaign, President Kush Kumar Joshi said the role of civil society was indispensable for free, fair and transparent election.
In the orientation presentation, the representatives of the initiative gave detailed information about the election system, FPTP and PR, the stages of supervision, the qualifications and responsibilities of the observers, the observation points of the voting day, the do’s and don’ts, the process of submitting the report, and the consequences of the violation. Practical guidance was also provided to the observers based on the experience and learnings of the past elections.
In the discussion session after the presentation, various issues including access to the election centre, rules related to photography and the procedures to be adopted in case of irregularities were discussed.
The initiative has been conducting national observation since the Constituent Assembly elections in 2070 BS and the elections to the House of Representatives, State Assemblies and local levels. This time too, the initiative has pledged to contribute to ensuring a free and transparent election through more than 100 observers in 21 districts of the country.
The National Business Initiative has been active in policy debate on contemporary issues such as promotion of responsible business practices, corporate social responsibility, sustainable development, formulation and maintenance of the code of conduct, capacity development of the private sector, business and human rights, disaster management and other contemporary issues.
