Kathmandu. Nepal Engineering College, which has been providing quality engineering courses to the students for the last 32 years, is conducting the entrance examination for the new academic year 2083 on Thursday. The college, which is a non-profit social educational institution, is going to conduct the first entrance examination of the new academic session tomorrow.
Affiliated to Pokhara University and granted permanent recognition by Nepal Engineering Council, the college offers 6 subjects of Architecture and Engineering at the undergraduate level. The college has said that all the preparations for the entrance examination to be held tomorrow have been completed and the participation of the students will also be better than expected.
Students from all over the country are expected to arrive in the entrance examination to be held at the college from 10:30 am. According to Mahesh Pujara, media relations officer of the college, hundreds of students have applied to appear for the entrance exam. “Today is the last day to apply for the entrance exam. So far, more than 700 students have applied. Even today, many students are filling the form online. We expect about 800 students to come. ’
The college offers 48 seats in Architecture, 144 seats in Civil Engineering, 40 seats in Civil and Rural, 96 seats in Computer Engineering, 48 seats in Electrical and Electronics, 96 seats in Information Communication and 48 seats in Civil for Diploma holders.

In order to increase the access of students to engineering education, the college has also kept the fees at par with other private colleges. However, since this college is a non-profit social organization, the fees are kept low. In addition, the college has been providing scholarships worth Rs 15 crore every year.
The college will provide scholarships to students who excel in entrance examinations and semester exams, while full scholarships will be provided to one student from each of seven provinces, 4 wards of Changunarayan Municipality and 2 wards of Kageshwori Manahara Municipality. Apart from this, various scholarships are given to the meritorious and poor students considering their educational and economic status.
Situated in a peaceful and green environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the college has its own well-equipped physical infrastructure. Principal of the college, Durga Prasad Bhandari, said that the college has attracted a lot of students as it has full-time experienced faculty for the students. The college has more than 105 full-time faculty. Stating that Nepal’s engineering education is of international standard, he said that Nepal Engineering College is the first choice of students who want to study engineering.
