Kathmandu. Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) has issued a directive to all insurers to scrap the provision related to dual code (code number) of agents.
In the circular issued by the authority, it has been directed to use the agent license number of the authority as the agent code of the insurer. The letter reads, “If the insurer has issued any separate agent identity card to the insurance agent, then the license number issued by the Authority should also be included in it.”
The insurer has to implement this directive by March 15.
Currently, the insurer has been issuing two types of identification numbers for the same person, including agent registration number and agent license number from the authority.
