Kathmandu. UK dispute law firm Stuarts has formed the Global Policyholder Alliance (GPA), the world’s largest global network, together with 14 leading independent international firms. It is the world’s largest global network.
Through close collaboration between member firms, the Alliance will work together on key insurance disputes and provide cross-border advice. The Alliance will address long-standing imbalances in the insurance market.
While insurance companies are able to use the network of established global law firms, insurers in cross-border disputes lack access to such specialized legal assistance. Businesses facing major insurance disputes through the GPA will be able to access excellent local knowledge and cross-border advice from member firms in the U.S., Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and other key regions.
According to Aaron Le Marcher, head of insurance disputes at Stuarts and founder of the Alliance, insurance disputes are becoming increasingly international. “However, until now, commercial insurers have not had as much easy access to a global network of specialist lawyers as insurance companies,” he said. By bringing together many of the world’s leading insured dispute lawyers, businesses can now access the best legal knowledge in their local area, as well as cross-border support if the dispute is international. ’
Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that insureds have access to the highest quality legal assistance, no matter where claims are raised in the world, Marcher said. “The Alliance is unique in providing specialist legal assistance, especially for the insured,” he said, “which is supported by an established and large litigation practice involving more than 2,500 lawyers in four global regions.” ’
The work of this alliance will begin with events in London on October 21, Dubai on November 4 and Singapore on November 19. – Agency
