Kathmandu. A workshop on Single Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme was organized in Birendrannagar of Surkhet on Thursday in collaboration with the Deposit and Credit Guarantee Fund (SDT) and UNDP. The workshop was attended by officials of PADT, UNDP and 9 local governments of Karnali, Sudurpaschim and Bagmati provinces.
A model project is in the process of implementing a model project to establish a separate fund with the joint contribution of Deposit and Credit Guarantee Fund, UNDP and 9 selected local levels to invest in specified sectors related to agriculture and to increase people’s access to credit. In this context, the workshop has been organized for the feedback of the local governments selected for the project.
A total of three local levels of Chandannath, Patarasi and Tatopani of Jumla from Karnali Province, 4 local levels of Birendranagar of Surkhet, 3 local levels of Budhiganga, Budhinanda and Triveni of Bajura and 4 local levels of Dhangadhi of Kailali and Panchkhal Municipality of Kavrepalanchowk from Bagmati Province have been selected for this model program.
On the occasion, the people’s representatives and employees from the selected local levels presented various queries and suggestions regarding the project. Ramesh Ghimire, chief executive officer of the fund, said that the scheme would be finalized after further discussions on the suggestions received on the draft of the project.
