Kathmandu. The Government of TAG_CLOSE_b_22 Nepal is conducting the ‘Personal Incident Registration Week’ from April 15 to April 7. With the slogan “Registration is our right, strong foundation of good governance”}, the local governments have been called upon to register five major personal incidents such as birth, death, marriage, divorce and migration.TAG_OPEN_em_15
Personal event registration determines a person’s citizenship status. Birth registration is the first legal identity of a child, which is mandatory for school admission, citizenship and child nutrition allowance. Marriage registration establishes a legal relationship between the couple, which helps with property rights, relationship verification, and social security.
A death register is a declaration of the termination of the legal existence of the deceased, which is required for the transfer of title to the remainder, the claim of title and the receipt of the pension. Further, the registration of migration and divorce provides legal proof of a person’s geographical location and marital status change, which makes administrative work easier.
The role of personal event registration in the insurance sector is more sensitive and technical. These documents are considered important for an insured for the following reasons:
1. Risk Assessment: The insurance company assesses the risk based on the age and lifestyle of the person. The insurance premium is determined only on the basis of proof of birth registration or official age.
