Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey and Pakistan were also involved in diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions between the US and Iran, the report said.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump claimed in his post on Truth Social that Iran and some other Middle Eastern countries had asked him to stop the attack. Qatari mediators held separate meetings on Saturday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Trump’s special envoy Steve Vitkoff and Omani officials. The meeting discussed a possible agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
