Kathmandu. The government has threatened to take action against electric vehicles charging passengers high fares.
The Department of Transport Management under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport issued this warning today. “As per the notice published by this Department on April 9, 2002, the fare of inter-state public vehicles has been adjusted as per the automatic fare adjustment system due to the increase in the price of biofuel at the international level. ’
According to the department, the transport service providers using some electric vehicles have been charged the increased fare as mentioned above while ferrying passengers and passengers have not been issued passenger tickets. “In the case of electric vehicles, the existing fare rate is the same and there is a provision for the transport service provider to compulsorily provide passenger tickets paid by the passengers,” the department has stated. ’
The Department has warned of action as per the Vehicle and Transport Management Act-2049, Vehicle and Transport Management Rules 2054 and other prevailing laws if found violating the provisions mentioned above.
