China and the United States are competing for the lead in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has also banned the import of power inverters. Inverters are used in data centers and solar panels.

The FCC said the devices posed risks to the US economy and critical infrastructure. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said the agency is fulfilling its responsibility to protect America’s critical supply chains. ’

The FCC has added these robots and inverters to its “covered list”. This list lists goods and services that are considered to pose a potential threat to U.S. national security.

There has been no official comment from China on this issue so far. –Agency
