Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: United Cements has organized a free health camp for the locals of Dhunibasi municipality-9 as part of its social responsibility programme.
The camp was organized with the participation of seven health workers of Mega Hospital, Lalitpur. Dr. Jamal Ashraf, Pediatrician Dr. Deepa Khanal, Dentist Dr. Dr. Sangita Kumari provided specialist health services. Hospital coordinator Shilpa Pokharel led the health team.
A total of 143 people received health check-up and counseling services from the camp. The beneficiaries ranged from children aged 7 to senior citizens up to 85 years of age. Most of the service recipients were locals of Dhuniveshi Municipality-9 and the participation of women was significantly higher than that of men. Along with health check-up, medicines required for free were also distributed in the camp.
The program was attended by local people’s representatives, social workers and distinguished personalities from different walks of life. Fruit juices and biscuits were distributed by United Cements to all the participants of the camp.
The program was coordinated by Dhanapati Sapkota, Administrative Chief of United Cements and Hari Kumar Upreti, General Manager of the company.
Doctors said most of the service recipients were found suffering from back, waist and knees during the health check-up.
They also said that most of the locals do not undergo regular health check-ups. The locals who participated in the camp pointed out the need to organize such health camps from time to time.
At the end of the program, the locals expressed their gratitude to United Cements for organizing the free health camp by showing concern for the health of the community.
On the occasion, General Manager of the company, Hari Kumar Upreti, thanked the local government, school representatives and all the supporters to make the program a success.
