Kathmandu. The United States has agreed to provide an additional $31 million in assistance for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Nepal, which was affected by the floods of the Bhotekoshi. This amount is equivalent to 4 billion 74 million 11 lakh 40 thousand Nepali rupees at the current exchange rate.
According to a press note issued by the spokesperson of the US Department of State, $10 million has been announced for the construction of permanent bridge structures, sanitation, drinking water and sanitation, and $13 million for drone equipment designed to be effective for relief and rescue during disasters. These drones are manufactured by American companies. Apart from this, the structures and equipment required for the bridge are also manufactured by American companies.
In this regard, a meeting was also held between US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker and Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal in New York on Tuesday. During the meeting, US Deputy Secretary of State Hooker expressed her deepest condolences to all those affected by the devastating floods in Nepal. She also expressed sympathy for the families of about 70 American citizens who are still incommunicado due to the floods.
With this, the total amount announced by the United States of America for relief, rescue and rehabilitation of the affected people of Bhotekoshi has reached 36 million US dollars.
