Kathmandu. The U.S. Central Command said on Saturday that U.S. forces bombed Iran for the eighth consecutive night. These attacks have targeted Iranian surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites.
The attacks came after Iran targeted a US military base in Jordan. Two U.S. soldiers were killed in Jordan. This has escalated tensions in the region and the US has put its troops on alert. This preparation of the US has increased the possibility of a rapid escalation of war and more attacks on Iran.
The Israeli website Jerusalem Post reported that US troops in the Middle East were on high alert, citing the US Central Command. More than 50,000 U.S. troops are stationed in the Middle East. In view of the tension, all forces are on alert and ready for any further action.
In addition to its troops, the US is increasing its presence in the Arab world with fighter jets. For this purpose, F-16 F-16s are being sent from Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany and F-35 stealth fighter jets from Britain. These aircraft will be deployed in Israel and other bases. Additional aircraft are also being sent to Israel from the United States.
The US State Department has issued a global security alert after earlier warnings focused on the Middle East. It urges U.S. citizens to take extra precautions because of the growing possibility. The department said Iran-backed groups could target U.S. interests and U.S. citizens abroad.
According to the Jerusalem Post, Israel is closely monitoring the escalating tensions between the US and Iran. After 8 consecutive nights of attacks, the US military is preparing for the operation on the ninth day. Israeli officials believe that Iran is refraining from attacking their country for now. But in the coming days, things can go either way.
U.S. officials have urged Israel to stay out of the conflict for the time being. Israel is said to have offered to take part in the attack against Iran. However, Washington rejected the offer. Israel’s participation will depend on Iran’s stance. If Iran attacks, the Israeli army could attack Tehran.
Israeli officials say if Washington approves Israel’s participation in the fighting, its forces can resume operations in Iran that were not completed before the previous ceasefire. This will include actions targeting infrastructure. –Agency
