Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) is to shut down all health insurance services from January 14.
The hospital administration has issued a notice informing about this. The administration has decided to shut down all health insurance services for not receiving the claim amount of the health insurance claim.
According to the hospital, around Rs 40 crore is yet to be paid. “The influx of patients is increasing day by day and the monthly expenditure is around Rs 50 million,” the notice reads, adding, “However, the Health Insurance Board has been approving only 50 percent of the claims and rejecting the rest.” ’
According to the notice, the rates of the insurance board and the hospital have been different for the treatment of patients coming to the hospital and the hospital has repeatedly requested the hospital to consider the amount as the final amount for the last 2 years. According to the administration, the hospital has been unable to run the health insurance program incurring a loss of Rs 20 million monthly as it has to bear all its daily expenses from its internal resources.
