Kathmandu. US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has said that Washington is working with many countries to increase economic pressure on Iran. He said that delegations have been sent to many countries on his instructions to persuade Iran to increase economic pressure.
Besant wrote on the social media platform X, “Under my instructions, teams were sent to different countries around the world. So that they could talk to their governments and demand action against the Iranian regime. These efforts are showing results. ’
“Turkey and Oman have announced the suspension of Mahan Air flights to their countries. The UAE has suspended all flights operated by Iranian Airlines. Meanwhile, the major banks of the UAE and Turkey have suspended their business with Iran,” Besant said.
According to Besant, Iran’s leadership has also acknowledged the economic impact of the war. “The value of the Iranian currency, the rial, has reached a record low. I express my gratitude to the governments of the UK, Turkey, Oman and the UAE,” he said, adding that “we will continue to work together as more remains to be done to prevent Iran from pursuing its terrorist agenda.” ’
