Kathmandu. The government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah had called for vacancies by the previous government to cancel the political appointments made in public institutions and select the qualified ones.
The Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Communications, among other ministers also called for applications from the interested people through social media. An online portal was also made public for the application.
Qualified persons applied for the appointment. It did not consider it necessary to make public the names of those who had applied. Only the names of the candidates in the final list were made public. So far, it was digestible to the general public. However, the appointments made by the government, which opposed the opacity and corruption of the previous government, have also proved to be opaque and biased.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that more than 3,000 applications have been received for the appointment of ambassadors, but the list of ambassadors has not been made public.
Opaque Appointment of Telecommunication Authority Chairman:
Tekpana Online Magazine has exposed the government’s fraud and mischief in the appointment of the chairman of the Nepal Telecommunication Authority. A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday appointed Arjun Ghimire as the chairman of NEA. However, while unveiling the Cabinet decisions after the meeting, the government’s spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel did not mention any information about his appointment.
The general public came to know about Ghimire’s appointment only after Ghimire was sworn in at the Ministry of Communications on Monday this week. According to Tekpana, the government spokesperson hid the information about the appointment as the cabinet meeting had already decided to appoint Ghimire before the interviews of the contenders included in the final list.
Appointment of Air Services Corporation Chairman
Maheshwor Bhakta Shrestha, the executive chairman of Nepal Airlines Corporation, is 80 years old. Shrestha is an incompetent person in terms of age. According to the ‘Criteria for Appointment and Nomination of Members and Office-bearers of Public Bodies, 2073’ related to the Ministry of Tourism, the person appointed as the executive chief of any agency should be 30 years of age and not more than 65 years of age.

KATHMANDU — Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has appointed employees of the Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) Board of Directors to the Board of Directors of the Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB). Finance Minister Wagle has appointed Astha Bhatta as an employee of the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS).
