Kathmandu. The Supreme Court’s decision today has shocked the outgoing President of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba. The Supreme Court has refused to correct the demand for amendment, saying that there was an error in the decision related to the special convention.
A division bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Nripa Dhwaj Niraula on Wednesday rejected a writ petition filed by outgoing President Deuba seeking correction of a part of the verdict on April 18. The order issued on April 18 had referred to the term ‘Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress named and promoted as the chairmanship of Gagan Kumar Thapa, who is said to have been elected through the illegal special convention of the Nepali Congress’.
Deuba had filed the writ petition demanding that the name of the person who was not made the defendant i.e. Thapa was not mentioned, but it was mentioned when the verdict came up. However, the Supreme Court has ordered that it cannot be corrected.
