Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balen Saha’s personal under-secretary Prakriti Dhakal has announced her candidacy for the post of central member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). Dhakal announced her candidacy for the post of central member during a meeting with her close aides on Monday in connection with the first national general convention of the Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) that is underway in Bharatpur of Chitwan from June 21.

“I am not contesting for the post, but to institutionalize the campaign of good governance, transparency and accountability. I believe that good people should reach the leadership,” Dhakal said.

The 28-year-old Dhakal of Chitwan is also the coordinator of Sambad Yatra for country change. President Bhandari has visited more than 14 districts of the country and interacted directly with citizens, youths, people’s representatives, chief district officers, chiefs of security bodies and stakeholders with the mantra ‘Capacity over Relations, Transparency than Tradition and Accountability right now’. According to her, the main objective of the campaign is to bring voices that are outside the Kathmandu-centric politics into the national discourse and to connect the new generation with the political consciousness.

Dhakal holds MSc in Global Health Policy from the London School of Economics under the prestigious Chevening Full Scholarship of the British Government. She holds a master’s degree in medical imaging technology from Gandaki Medical College and a master’s degree in management from King’s College, Nepal. She also received training in systemic thinking from the University of Oxford.

Dhakal, who has worked as a programme officer at Pokhara Research Center for nearly four years, is currently working as the Executive Director of United for Impact and Head of Global Health Policy at IN Lab. His candidacy in the ongoing general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been seen as an attempt to further strengthen the agenda of youth leadership, good governance, transparency and alternative politics.
