According to the Department, the passport service provided by the district and area administrations and Nepali missions abroad may be closed for 1 to 3 weeks. “The passport service provided by the Department of Passport may be closed for a week,” the notice reads, adding that it will take a week to three months to stabilize the new system. ’

Therefore, it will take longer to prepare and issue passports when applying from the District and Area Administration Office or Nepali missions abroad during the interim period, the Department said. Therefore, service recipients who may need passport within mid-September have been urged to take passport service from the concerned District and Area Administration Office or Nepali Mission or Passport Department abroad before the interim situation begins.

Besides, the Department said it would also inform about the date of commencement of the new system and the arrangements to be made during that period through another notice.
