PABSON provides Rs 120 million for disaster affected schools, Rs 2 crore allocated for affected schools

KATHMANDU: The Private and Boarding Schools Organization Nepal (PABSON) has contributed Rs 120 million to the Disaster Relief Fund of the Government of Nepal for the relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by the floods and disasters in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and other areas.

According to Krishna Adhikari, central president of PABSON, the amount collected from more than 6,500 member schools across the country has been handed over to the government. PABSON, which has a history of about 33 years, had decided to donate Rs 120 million to help the nation during the disaster.

Adhikari said that the member schools have enthusiastically supported the management of regular operating expenses, the responsibilities of teachers and employees and the taxes to be paid to the state. He said that the amount was collected more than expected and the details of the assistance have been made transparent.

PABSON has said that the details of the assistance collected have been sent to the provinces and the central government from the concerned districts and the complete details of the assistance will also be made available to the government. President Adhikari said that arrangements will be made to provide certificates to each school and institution in recognition of their contribution in collaboration with the government.

PABSON general secretary RB Katuwal said that the government has also given priority to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the schools that were affected by the disaster.

According to him, Rs 20 million has been allocated for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of five PABSON schools in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.

According to Katuwal, apart from the additional amount to be collected till 12 midnight of September 14, the remaining amount will be handed over to the Disaster Relief Fund of the Government of Nepal.

PABSON has said that private schools are not only educational institutions but also responsible partners to stand with the nation in times of disaster. President Adhikari said that the support of private schools, teachers, parents and students across the country is a symbol of love, unity and social responsibility towards the nation.

PABSON has paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the disaster and extended condolences to the bereaved family and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. It also expressed its commitment to support the government and the Nepali people in their happiness and sorrow in the coming days.
