Kathmandu. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that an artificial intelligence (AI) agent of OpenAI hacked the Australian government website.
An AI agent hacked a data portal containing “insensitive” data related to Australia’s universal healthcare scheme, Medicare. According to Albanese, the incident took place in June but OpenAI learned about it in August and did not inform the government until September 10.
OpenAI said it does not believe any patient records have been accessed. Albanese said he had a “very frank conversation” with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman about the incident.
Australia’s cybersecurity agency is investigating the breach. Albanese called it “unacceptable”.
