Air safety is usually measured on the basis of country-specific national monitoring agencies and global airline rankings. Australia is considered to be at the top of this list. This is because Australian airlines have not had any major accidents in recent years. Countries such as the UAE, Hong Kong, and New Zealand are also consistently ranked high in the global safety index.

Australia’s biggest strength is its aviation agency, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Australia’s Qantas Airways is often considered the safest airline in the world.

Two other Australian airlines, Virgin Australia and Jetstar, have never had an accident. Airline Ratings has placed Qantas third and Virgin Australia ninth in the list of the safest airlines in the world. Similarly, Jetstar is second in the list of low-cost airlines.

UAE’s airline Etihad is at the top of the list of full-service airlines in terms of safety. Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific is second, Qatar Airways is fourth and Emirates is fifth. It is followed by Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, EVA Air and Korean Air. No Indian airlines are included in this list.

Among the low-cost airlines, HK Express is the safest. Scoot is third and Flydubai is fourth. easyJet, Southwest, AirBaltic, Vietjet Air, Wizz Air and AirAsia are all in the top 10. No Indian airline is included in the top 25 in this list. – Agency
