Kathmandu. NLG Insurance Company Limited has signed a contract in Musikot Municipality Ward No. Discussion and interaction program on agriculture and livestock insurance was held in Province 9. Ward No. The program was attended by 26 local livestock farmers and farmers.
The program provided detailed information on the need of agriculture and livestock insurance, its role in risk management and provisions including government grants. In particular, it was emphasized that insurance would be an effective means to protect farmers from economic loss due to natural disasters (floods, landslides, hailstorms, droughts), diseases, accidental deaths, theft and other unforeseen risks. During the discussion, the major provisions of agricultural insurance were also clarified.
The program was facilitated by NLG Insurance Company Limited, Rukum West Sub Branch Chief Hemraj Bohara. The participating farmers received practical information regarding the insurance process, premium rate, claim process and required documents.
At the end of the program, the farmers expressed the belief that the Agriculture and Livestock Insurance Program would help significantly in reducing the risk and urged the farmers to give continuity to such programmes.
On the occasion, Business Coordinator of the company, Sunil Shrestha, said that the company aims to make the farmers safe and self-reliant by expanding insurance in the rural areas.
