Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: NIC ASIA Bank Ltd. has launched NepalPay Card Acquaring Service through Nepal Clearing House Ltd. (NCHL), another digital banking service for NepalPay Banking. With this, the bank will now be able to acquire the NepalPay Card for its customers. Similarly, RuPay card and other international cards under the discover network can now be used at the bank’s ATMs and POS terminals. The bank has been providing digital services through various card schemes including NepalPay and this initiative of the bank is expected to help in digital transformation along with the promotion of national card.
NepalPay Card is a national card scheme launched under the National Payment Switch. The card can be rolled out globally through National Payment Switch in Nepal and international payment partner Discover Network. With the launch of National Payment Switch, NepalPay cards issued by the banks and financial institutions, payment service providers and payment system operators can be used at ATMs and POS terminals in Nepal and abroad. International Discover Cards and Discover Partner Cards can also be used in Nepal.
So far, more than 36 banks and financial institutions have signed up for the NepalPay Card and it is in various stages of implementation. Currently, 7 BFIs, 7 BFIs, and another 11 BFIs, are already acquiring and the number is expected to grow in the days ahead.
