Nepal welcomes US investment: PM Shah

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to Nepal, Megan Boldin, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Walendra Shah at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar today.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shah expressed gratitude to the US government for its solidarity and support to Nepal in this difficult situation. He said that foreign citizens along with Nepalis have been affected due to the disaster.

Prime Minister Shah also said that this phenomenon has been faced as a result of climate change. He also stressed the need to further strengthen global cooperation and collective efforts to reduce the risk of climate-related disasters and address their impacts.

Similarly, highlighting the unique tourism potential of Nepal and the opportunities that could be mutually beneficial through the development of tourism sector, the Prime Minister said that Nepal would always welcome the US investment.

During the meeting, Charge d’ Affaires Boldin expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property due to the floods in Rasuwa and extended condolences to the bereaved families and affected communities. She expressed solidarity with the government and people of Nepal at this difficult time and said that the US government was ready to provide necessary support and cooperation in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
