Nepal should bring enthusiasm by introducing new products in capital market: SEBON President Bhatta

Kathmandu. Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Chairman Dr Gopal Prasad Bhatta has stressed on the need to bring new products to Nepal’s capital market.

He said this while addressing an interaction programme on capital market organized by Stock Brokers Association of Nepal here today. Bhatt also said that Sebon will now adopt a policy of cash or credit transactions.

The chief guest of the program, Chairman Bhatta, said that the upcoming margin transaction facility will improve the existing credit transactions. “SEBON will issue some guidelines related to the capital market,” he said, adding that these guidance will be in the interest of investors, risk-based regulation and institutional governance in the capital market. Sebon has focused on improving the primary and secondary markets. ’

President of the association, Sagar Dhakal, who also presided over the program, delivered the welcome speech and stressed on the need of revising the existing acts of 20-22 years ago. He said that after the new leadership came to the service, more work has been done than they had imagined. He also suggested that SEBON should now bring in a system of ‘auto EDIS’.

Nitesh Kumar Agrawal, vice-president of the association, presented a roadmap on capital market development. Concluding the program, President of Capital Market Forum of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Priya Raj Regmi said that the views of the President of Sebon have been clearly understood and all should be carried out accordingly. He said that the biggest thing in the stock market is the confidence of the investors and the investors. He also stressed on the need for the broker business to be modern and respected.

The program was attended by SEBON Chairman Bhatta, the entire management team and more than 80 broker companies. The program was conducted by Bhakti Ram Ghimire, General Secretary of the Association.
