Nepal SBI Merchant Banking conducts awareness on financial literacy and capital market

Kathmandu. On the occasion of World Investment Week 2026, Nepal SBI Merchant Banking Limited has successfully conducted a “Financial Literacy and Capital Market Awareness Program” for female adult students studying at Chetna Women’s Secondary School in Gongabu, Kathmandu.

More than fifty students of the school enthusiastically participated in the program organized with the aim of enhancing women’s financial empowerment, financial access, and investment knowledge. Women of different age groups participated in the program, which provided basic information on savings, personal financial management, long-term investment, Nepal’s capital market, demat account, Mero shares, and Primary Public Offering (IPO). The event, organized as part of the World Investment Week 2026, is expected to contribute positively to the development of financial knowledge and investment culture among women.

The program was facilitated by Arun Shrestha, Head of Institutional Consulting, Nepal SBI Merchant Banking Limited. The program was attended by Principal of the school Shanta Pandit, Co-Principal of the school Urmila Pradhan, other representatives of the management side and Utsav Tuladhar, Investment Head of Nepal SBI Merchant Banking Limited.

Addressing the program, Principal of the school, Mr. Shanta Pandit, expressed her gratitude to Nepal SBI Merchant Banking Limited (NSBL) and expressed her confidence that the financial education provided by women from different generations would play a significant role in enhancing financial decision-making capacity of the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives of Nepal SBI Merchant Banking Limited said that financial literacy is essential to build financially aware and capable citizens and that such programs have been launched especially with the objective of connecting women to the formal financial system and capital market.

Chetna Women’s Secondary School, Gongabu, Kathmandu has been providing continuous education from class 1 to 10 to women of different generations for the last more than 22 years. From the school, SEE. The women who have passed out have become self-reliant and respected citizens in the society by joining local level leaders, entrepreneurs, health workers and various other professions. At present, more than 160 students are enrolled in the school and about 120 students are studying daily.
