Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has decided to implement the suggestions received from consultants in the loan portfolio review (LPR) of 10 big banks.
The NRB’s Fourth Strategic Plan 2022-2026, the structural benchmark set for obtaining extended credit facility from the International Monetary Fund and the fiscal year 2082 of the Bank Supervision Department. In line with the approved annual action plan of 83 years, it was decided to evaluate the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the credit investment of commercial banks by the independent side. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and Bangladeshi consultant Hauladar Yunus & Co had signed a contract agreement on August 28, 2025 to carry out the LPR.
The consultant company had completed the work related to LPR of 10 big banks on the basis of total loan and submitted a report with suggestions to the NRB.
The NRB has decided to implement the suggestions made in the report after receiving a separate and integrated report from each bank.
According to the findings of the consultant, the average non-performing loan ratio of the 10 largest commercial banks selected for the LPR has been maintained at 7.6 percent and average capital adequacy ratio of 11.30 percent. The central bank has stated that it will further strengthen the banks and financial institutions by gradually implementing the policy reform suggestions indicated in the report and will carry out necessary actions to maintain financial stability by minimizing the identified risks.
