According to the data released by Nepal Rastra Bank, eight national level development banks have earned a net profit of Rs 2.04 billion till mid-December of the current fiscal year. In the review period, the profit of the banks decreased by 26.84 percent compared to the previous year.
Compared to the previous year, the profit of 3 development banks has increased while the profit of 4 has decreased. One bank has incurred losses. Garima Bikas Bank was the top gainer in the review period, followed by Jyoti Bikas Bank in terms of growth rate.
Garima Bikas Bank has earned a net profit of Rs 53.73 crore in the current FY. It was 4.27 percent higher than the previous year. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 51.53 crore in the same period a year ago.
Similarly, Muktinath is the second development bank to make the most profit. Muktinath has earned a net profit of Rs 52.90 crore in the review period. Muktinath had posted a net profit of Rs 58.88 crore in the same period last year. The bank’s net profit decreased by 10.16 percent in the review period compared to the previous year.
Shine Resunga Development Bank is in the third position. During the review period, the bank earned a net profit of Rs. 44.07 crores. The bank had posted a net profit of Rs 47.59 crore in the same period last year. The bank’s net profit decreased by 7.40 percent in the review period compared to the previous year.
Similarly, Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank and Shangrila Development Bank have earned a net profit of Rs 35.95 crore and Rs 19.83 crore respectively. Compared to the previous year, the profit of Kamana Sewa increased by 8.60 percent while that of Shangri-La decreased by 4.23 percent.
Similarly, Jyoti Bikas Bank and Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank earned a net profit of Rs 13.23 crore. Compared to the previous year, Jyoti’s profit increased by 180.03 percent while that of Mahalaxmi decreased by 37.82 percent.
In the review period, Lumbini Bikas Bank has incurred a loss of Rs 35.45 crore. The bank had posted a net profit of Rs 38.68 crore in the same period last year.
