National Economic Census begins for the second time in seven years

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The National Statistical Office (NSO) has launched the second economic census across the country from today. According to the office, a deadline of two months has been set for the supervisors deputed for the field data collection.

According to the office, five thousand human resources have been mobilized for data collection. A total of 84 offices have been set up for the census.

Issuing a video message, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle urged all to contribute to the task as the data related to the overall industrial and economic sector would be collected.

The on-site supervisors will collect basic details of 18 sectors of economic sector including industry, business, service sector, cooperative and private sector, number and type of public institutions, investment, employment, production and service delivery. The census will include big and small business establishments, establishments making significant contribution to employment, industries, factories, trade, businesses, government and non-governmental organizations, corporations, government schools, community schools, private schools and all types of hospitals.

The National Economic Census was started in Nepal since 2075 BS. After seven years, the recount will begin.  The first national economic census had collected data of 923,356 enterprises and businesses.
