Kathmandu. Anita Karki, an international fencing athlete and a member of the Armed Police Force, has successfully climbed the world’s highest peak Mount Everest. Karki scaled Mt Everest at 10:20 am on Sunday. “Narayan Ballabh Pant Foundation and Dev Group have supported me for this success,” said Anita Karki.

She has completed this historic journey with the main slogan ‘Climbing for Gagri’. Karki has taken this bold step to highlight the extreme hardship and physical hardship faced by Nepal’s rural women on a daily basis for access to clean drinking water.

Carrying a traditional Nepali copper pitcher, she reached the summit of Mount Everest to pay her respects to the “invisible rural women who are compelled to trek through difficult terrain of the mountains every day to fetch water for their families”.

Karki, who works in the sports section of the Armed Police Force, had been undergoing intensive physical training and technical preparation for the summit for long. The main objective of this campaign is to draw international attention to the post-monsoon water scarcity and the need for water resources management, especially in the mid-hilly region of Nepal. With the management support of Narayan Ballabh Pant Foundation, Dev Group and Tech Expedition, the expedition has added a new brick to the field of sports and social campaigns in Nepal.
