The Bank has expressed its serious attention to the baseless and unsubstantiated propaganda being circulated on various social media and some media outlets that Nabil Bank has violated the confidentiality of the customers and leaked information related to the transaction of the customers. The Bank categorically refutes such misleading and unsubstantiated communication as it appears that such misleading information is trying to affect the trust of the public in the banking service.
Ignoring the news published in a daily newspaper about transactions in various banks and financial institutions on different dates, the bank has said that some people have deliberately spread misinformation against the bank through social networks.
The Bank would like to make it clear to all the stakeholders that the Bank cannot and will not make available the information or transaction details of any customer to any media, person or unauthorized body except as demanded by the customer himself, his authorized representative, or the regulatory and investigative bodies in accordance with the process of law. If the details of any customer of the bank are taken by anyone, all the details and records of the bank at what date, which employee, for what purpose are the details of the bank securely recorded in the bank’s system i.e. the core banking system.
We clarify that all allegations and speculations made against the Bank in this regard are false, misleading and baseless. As a licensed Class A commercial bank, Nabil Bank is committed to maintaining complete confidentiality of customer information by fully complying with the prevailing laws, regulations, provisions and directives and internal good governance and information policies. Maintaining banking confidentiality and protecting customer information is the basic principle of banking ethics and compliance. “We would like to inform that the bank has always been following the highest standards and practices in this regard,” the bank said in a statement. ’
The bank has urged the people and agencies who distort the news published with a clear source of information not to mislead the people and agencies and mislead the public. “In addition, the bank will be obliged to take legal action against the intended propagandists as per the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 and other prevailing laws,” the statement said.
