Minister Lamsal warns of action against government officials demanding extra fees from under-construction projects

Kathmandu. The Balen-led government has announced that it will take action against government officials who charge or demand extra fees from under-construction projects.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sunil Lamsal, during a meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) on Sunday, decided to book such officials as per the law. During the discussion, Minister Lamsal said that public complaints have been received that financial irregularities are rampant in the infrastructure development sector, creating obstacles in the quality construction works on time.

Minister Lamsal said that the contractors would not be allowed to pay additional fees to any level and level of government officials in the under-construction projects in the coming days and if any government officials demanded such fees, they would be taken under the ambit of action as per the existing laws. He also directed the contractors to inform them directly about such government officials.

Issuing a press release, the FCAN has urged all contractors to follow the directives of Minister Lamsal.
