Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has said that alternative routes are needed for energy supply in the Middle East after Iran’s attack on commercial ships.
Trump made the remarks during a meeting with Gulf Cooperation Council and Arab leaders on the sidelines of the annual session of the UN General Assembly in New York. He advocated the creation of energy supply routes that are not controlled by Iran.
Trump said, “My administration fully supports the Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and other means of transporting oil. Whether it is through pipelines or other means. With this, we are closer to overcoming the challenges that have plagued the region for decades.” ’
The Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor is a major infrastructure and connectivity project. It aims to connect India with the Middle East and Europe. It was announced during the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September 2023. – Agency
