Kathmandu. MetLife Foundation has provided a grant of USD 1 lakh to CARE Nepal to support the relief and rehabilitation efforts of the communities affected by the devastating floods in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and surrounding areas.
The assistance was provided to provide relief to the damage caused by the devastating floods. To provide immediate relief to the affected families, CARE Nepal and its partner organizations are on the ground distributing essential aid, including prepared food items, blankets, temporary shelters, and hygiene kits. Despite the damage to the road network and the difficulty of accessing remote areas, the relief teams are continuing their efforts to reach the communities in need.
CARE Nepal’s relief efforts are particularly focused on families who have lost their homes, property, and livelihoods due to the floods. The support from the MetLife Foundation will further strengthen these ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts and help ensure at-risk families on the journey to recovery have access to the necessary assistance and services.
Nirmal Kaji Shrestha, General Manager, MetLife Nepal, said, “Through the support of MetLife Foundation, meaningful support is being provided to address the immediate needs of the affected families. It is also helping them regain stability, security, and confidence as they rebuild their future. ”
“When disasters like flash floods hit communities in the Bhotekoshi region, CARE Nepal stands by them so that they can feel safe, respected, and optimistic even after the loss of so much,” said Mona Sherpa, Country Director of CARE Nepal.
In addition to the support from the MetLife Foundation, MetLife Nepal has contributed Rs 300,000 (approximately USD 20,000) to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. This support further reinforces the company’s commitment to solidarity with communities affected by the disaster and supporting the ongoing relief and recovery efforts at the national level.
