Kathmandu. Maxus Nepal has provided relief assistance worth about Rs 80 lakh to the flood-affected communities in Bhotekoshi, Rasuwa.
The donation, supported by SAIC Maxus China and coordinated by the Himalaya Organization, includes direct financial support as well as sustainable drinking water systems and essential relief materials.
The distribution includes mattresses, pillows, bedding, medicines, basic medical supplies, food, vegetables, cooking utensils and clothes.
The company has already handed over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund to Honorable Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle a few days ago as part of its corporate social responsibility. The remaining assistance of about Rs 30 lakh has been directly mobilized in the affected areas around the Trishuli River in Nuwakot. An ‘Ultra Filter Water Treatment Plant’ has been installed for clean drinking water in two holding centers and essential relief materials have been distributed to about 400 people.
Solar-based water purification systems have been installed at Shree Bhairam Secondary School at Trishuli and Trishuli Primary School at Bidur Municipality for the convenience of the disaster survivors.
With a capacity to purify 1,000 litres of water per hour, these systems will provide safe drinking water to about 500 families currently taking temporary shelter there. Students will also benefit from the reopening of schools.
President of Himalaya Organization Dhruba Thapa, Managing Director Milan Thapa and Chief Governor of Lions International District 325 J Nepal Ram Raja Thapa were also present in the program.
