Kathmandu. Member of the House of Representatives, Rajani Shrestha, has drawn the attention of the government to manage insurance and other insurance facilities for athletes dedicated to keeping the nation’s pride high.
Drawing the attention of the government through the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Shrestha demanded that the government should guarantee insurance and employment to the players and make sports compulsory at the school level.
“Today, I am standing in this House not as a lawmaker, but with the hearts of the players,” Shrestha said. The players who sweat for the country are forced to go abroad today, we clapped but never understood their pain nor is there enough infrastructure. Neither the reward on time nor the guarantee of the future.
She said that sports should be made compulsory in schools if the youth are not involved in addiction but in nation building. The players should be guaranteed insurance jobs. Mr. Speaker, I would like to humbly request you today to stop politicization and separatism in the sports sector.
Shrestha, who was elected to the House of Representatives from the Rastriya Swatantra Party through the proportional representation list, is also an international medal-winning bodybuilding athlete and coach.
