Kumari Bank Receives ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Certificate

Kathmandu. Kumari Bank Limited has received the internationally recognized ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) certification. This certification demonstrates that the Bank’s information security policies, procedures and controls are in line with international standards.

ISO/IEC 27001:2022, Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) basically consists of 93 controls, which are divided into Organizational (37), People (8), Physical (14)/Technological (34). An ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certificate is granted to ensure that these controls are implemented through an independent external audit.

This certification ensures that the bank has a good ability to identify, evaluate and manage information security risks and is in compliance with international standards. The certificate also validates that the bank has kept the data of its customers safe and confidential, provided it when needed, protected from unauthorized access and has implemented robust security systems.

With rapid expansion of digital banking services and cyber security and data privacy emerging as major concerns of customers and stakeholders, the bank has implemented the highest standards of security across its mobile banking, internet banking, card services and internal systems.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of the Bank Ram Chandra Khanal said, “Customer’s trust is the foundation of the banking service. Obtaining the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification is a reflection of our steadfast commitment to the security of clients’ financial information. We will continue to invest in technology, human resources, and processes to provide a safe and reliable banking environment. ’

The bank has been implementing a structure for prevention, identification and management of potential cyber risks through regular risk assessment, employee awareness programs, security audit and continuous monitoring system.

“Information security is not a one-time achievement but a process of continuous improvement and we will continue to strengthen our security mechanisms in the coming days in line with regulatory standards and international best practices,” the statement added.
