Interaction with students in Biratnagar to increase insurance awareness

Kathmandu. On the occasion of Global Money Week, Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province Office organized an interaction program on insurance with the students of various colleges of Biratnagar. In the program organized at Himalaya Darshan College, City College and Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus at different times, discussions were held on the importance, types, challenges, practical use, condition of Nepali insurance market and the need for financial literacy. The interaction program was conducted by Milan Pokhrel, Assistant First Officer, Koshi Province Office of Nepal Insurance Authority.

On the occasion, Koshi Province Chief Preeti Dev shed light on the theoretical and practical aspects of the insurance and said the objective was to inform students and teachers about the role, responsibility and rights of the NEA. Presenting an overview of Nepal’s financial system, she shed light on the need of insurance sector and the existing challenges. According to Dev, the active role of youths is necessary in the development of the insurance sector and she expressed the belief that such programs will help attract students towards it.

A quiz competition was also organized as part of the program, which added to the enthusiasm of the students. Addressing the queries raised by the participants during the concluding session, she said that there is a lack of skilled manpower in the insurance sector and the future prospects are bright in this sector. Similarly, information was also shared about the essay writing competition conducted by the Authority. It has also pledged to continue such awareness-raising programmes in the coming days.
