India takes action against 156 Nepali workers for foreign employment

Kathmandu. A total of 156 manpower companies have been found guilty of sending Nepali workers from India for foreign employment.

The Department of Foreign Employment had asked for flight details of the workers sent abroad for foreign employment with labour permit from Chaitra 1, 2082 to June 14, 2083. According to this, out of 1,117 manpower companies, 678 had provided details to the department. According to the department, 159 workers were sent for foreign employment without the approval of the Department while 439 have complied with the directive given to provide the details.

According to the Foreign Employment Act, 2064, the manpower companies have to send Nepali workers for foreign employment using the domestic airport. According to the department, the manpower company sending Nepali workers for foreign employment from Indian airport has been warned for the first time as per the provision in the Foreign Employment Act.
